The Trouble with the Troubles Youth DVD Completed
Over the Last two years the Ely Centre, Enniskillen have been recording the stories of over 60 young persons effected by The Troubles, The group are happy to announce this exploratory work has been completed.
The Documentary entitled “The Trouble with the Troubles – The Impact on Our Children” highlights the devastating impact of terrorism on over 60 Young people whose lives have been and continue to be effected due to The Troubles.
Issues prevalent to their lives such as coping with bereavement and injury, sectarianism, integrated education, parading and cultural issues and their hopes for Northern Ireland have all been recorded throughout Fermanagh and edited into a truly unique 80 minutes dvd
Mr Lee McDowell , Ely Centre Directors stated “ This intergenerational archive project was commissioned as an invaluable source to preserve the thoughts and feelings of today’s young people who at this point of time are experiencing early adult life in Northern Ireland during the aftermath of “The Troubles.” As an organisation we are passionate about intergenerational support work and this begins in providing them the platform to express their views “
This project has received support from the Victim Support Programme for groups working with Victims and Survivors of the troubles, administered by the VSS on behalf of the Office of the First and Deputy First Minster.
The group are currently preparing a launch of this DVD estimated for the autumn
