Mr Grant Weir Visits Colebrooke Estate.

Today ( Monday 21st December) The Rt Hon Viscount Brookeborough joined by staff from the Ely Centre and Brooke House accompanied Mr Grant Weir as he embarked upon one of the final stages of his Marathon Fundraising effort.

Within the picturesque grounds of the Colebrooke Estate, a further 2 miles of this fantastic achievement were completed raising awareness of Veterans mental health and funds towards Veterans mental health services provided by The Ely Centre and SEFF.

Speaking after this morning’s events, Ely Centre Chairperson (Mr Jim Dixon) ( Chairperson) stated

“As a seriously injured survivor of our troubled past I wholeheartedly commend the tremendous physical and mental challenge which Grant and his family have undertaken to support Veterans in our community. The Ely Centre motto is “let each look out not for his own interests but also the interests of others” I believe Grants efforts has brought our Charity verse to life.On behalf of the Board of Directors I congratulate him, Michelle and the whole family as he reaches his goal tomorrow. After a well-earned period of rest I look forward to welcoming Grant in the New Year to the Ely Centre”

Ely Centre Director of Services (Lee McDowell) stated:

“Grants fundraising effort has struck a chord with many people from across the country. For those of us privileged to know Grant, this accomplishment reflects the character of this man. He has taken it all in his stride. The funding raised as a direct result of Grants efforts will ensure that more specialist mental health services including trauma focused CBT and EMDR Therapy will be available to our Veterans community. As this new period of lockdown approaches, we all expect that increased demands upon our mental health services will be a real and urgent issue. Grants support will ensure that more Veterans who require urgent support can be supported.

To Grant, Michelle and the whole family on behalf of the team here at the Ely Centre we thank you and wish you all a Merry Christmas and Gods Richest Blessings for the incoming year.

Tomorrow (Tuesday 22nd December) Grant will complete the final stage of his walk returning to the grounds of Holy Trinity Church of Ireland Lisnaskea.
