Mrs Carla Lockhart MP Visits the Ely Centre.
On Thursday 5th August, The Ely Centre were honoured to receive a visit to our offices from Mrs Carla Lockhart MP for Upper Bann.
This visit provided an opportunity to present an overview of the work of the Ely Centre to victims and also provided an opportunity for earnest and frank discussion surrounding the impact of the forthcoming Troubles Permananet Disablement Payment Scheme and the Legacy proposals recently announced by the Secretary of State Mr Brandon Lewis MP .
Following a tour of the offices and an opportunity to chat to staff, Mrs Lockhart MP was very interested to learn of how the ongoing Pandemic has effected our services and learnt how we have adopted our service delivery model during COVID , which has enabled the continuation of provision of HWB and welfare services to an increasing amount of Victims and Survivors from across Northern Ireland and Beyond.
Speaking after the visit, Mr L McDowell commented " I would like to thank Carla for her visit today to the Ely Centre and for her ongoing interest and unwavering support to us as an organisation and her continued dedication and support of Victims and the needs which impact their lives. This interest was evident surrounding our discussions in relation to TDPDS and Legacy. We welcomed the opportunity to discuss openly and frankly our concerns and share our perspective from the ground . We know these views have been listened too and will be acted upon and we thank her for investing the time with us to learn more.
